DSC_0107_smWelcome to the Historic Ozark Christian Church

  • To become deliberately attentive to God.
  • To have a safe place to explore difficult life-questions.
  • To take responsibility for someone outside the immediate family.
  • To find a place where one can be treated as a valuable human being.
  • To gain a sense of belonging to each other and belonging to God.
  •

We believe that these are a few of the reasons why people seek a church home.  At Historic Ozark Christian Church, we strive to build together the kind of community where folks from diverse backgrounds and walks of life can journey together toward a deeper experience of God.  We strive to be the kind of community where all are welcome to share what they have to share.

We are pleased that you have chosen to visit our “cyber-church.”  This web site is one of our many avenues for building community and extending the hospitality of Christ to the “traveler.”  You are most welcome to sojourn here, as you seek to discover who we are.  You can even let us know who you are!

Historic Ozark Christian Church is a member congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  That means that we’re part of the Stone-Campbell Movement, one of the most unique expressions of American Christianity.  The unity of all Christians within the milieu of diverse denominational expressions of Faith is our “polar star.”

We are historic because we are 170 years old.  We were chartered in 1840 under the leadership of “Father” Joel Hayden, a student of Barton Stone.  We are Christian in that we leave Christ’s Table open to all, and honor all expressions of Christian baptism.  We are Disciples in that we recognize that we all have things to share for the common good.

God delights in you – and so do we.  Thanks for taking time to get to know us in this small way!  “Our doors, our worship, our Table and our hearts are always open.”
